Dear Faculty, Staff, and Graduate Student Instructors,

We hope the end of your fall semester is going well. As you know, this time of the semester can bring increased stress to students. With final deadlines for papers approaching and final exams about to begin, students may be displaying signs of distress. We wanted to remind you of resources available to help you if you encounter a student who is struggling emotionally.

Right now, Congress is considering tax reform proposals that would harm the financial security of students and their families, and threaten the research, education, health care, and public service missions of universities. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (H.R. 1) proposes changes to the U.S. Tax Code that would have devastating impacts on students. These changes include:

Dear members of the campus community:

You may recall earlier this year we announced that our campus would be better served if the portfolio of the former Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance was separated into two: one focused on financial issues and one focused on administrative issues. At that time, Rosemarie Rae was elevated to the role of Vice Chancellor of Finance and Chief Financial Officer while this September, Marc Fisher joined us from UC Santa Barbara to become Berkeley’s Vice Chancellor of Administration.

Dear Campus Community,

Heating and ventilation will again be curtailed on the Berkeley campus during the period from the end of the business day Friday, December 22, 2017 through Monday, January 1, 2018. During the entire curtailment period, faculty and staff are encouraged to plan to be away from campus. This reduction in energy and steam use during the winter break are anticipated to result in a cost savings to the campus of more than $100,000.
