Luly Sbeta is the Coordinator for Residential Community Standards and is currently serving in an interim role as an Organization Advising & Student Involvement Services (OASIS) Advisor.

21 months. 

What does the nominee love about working at UC Berkeley?

Luly loves working with Cal students. Students at Cal are bright individuals who strive for excellence and are motivated to contribute to their growth and development and make a meaningful impact on the world. Luly also loves her colleagues at Residential Life, whom she has worked with for 21 months, and her colleagues at OASIS, whom she has worked with for two months. Luly has learned so much from both teams and truly treasures her relationships with them. Lastly, Luly treasures being part of the MENASA Staff Organization. It has been a rewarding experience that fosters cultural pride, community engagement with other staff and faculty, and positive social change.

What makes the nominee a star, what sets them apart from their colleagues?

Luly’s outstanding performance, teamwork, and adaptability make her a star. Luly is incredibly empathetic and fosters a supportive, inclusive work environment where everyone feels valued and respected. Luly always exceeds expectations to support her colleagues and has been known as “Most likely to be caught lending a hand” by the Residential Life team. Additionally, Luly always goes the extra mile to recognize her colleagues and celebrate their special occasions, such as their birthdays. It is a simple yet meaningful way to foster connections, boost morale, and contribute to a positive work environment.

What tip would the nominee pass on to other staff to thrive on campus?

A tip that Luly would pass on to other staff to help them thrive on campus is actively engaging with campus life beyond their everyday responsibilities. This can include participating in events, joining committees, and building relationships with students, faculty, and other staff members. Being involved with the vibrant campus community fosters a sense of belonging and fulfillment in their roles.

What can we find the nominee doing on the weekends?

Making new desserts, decorating cakes, and testing new cake-filling recipes. Luly is known as the Pizookie Queen for having a giant sweet tooth. You can also find Luly going out with family & friends and taking her little one on new adventures.
