Dear Colleagues,

Is your manager or supervisor a superstar? A leader who truly shows how it’s done by inspiring and empowering the team around them? Here’s your chance to recognize their efforts - the Berkeley Staff Assembly is now accepting nominations for the 2020 Excellence in Management Awards (EIM). These awards honor exemplary managers and supervisors who have led their teams and team members to meaningful accomplishments this past year.

This year’s EIM Awards theme is, “Building Teams and Developing Staff.” This highlights leadership which encourages integrity, engagement, trustworthiness, inclusion, and staff empowerment.

You can nominate your managers/supervisors who exemplify the theme in one or more of the following ways:

  • Trustworthiness, Integrity and Staff Development - manager/supervisor builds trust, models integrity, and takes an active role in the development of their staff.

  • Active and Intentional Engagement around Diversity, Belonging and Collaboration - manager/supervisor is always mindful of cultural distinctions, welcomes differing outlooks and viewpoints, looks to strengthen team dynamics, and nurtures an environment of belonging.

  • Empowering - manager/supervisor provides team members with the tools to succeed at work, through mentorship, coaching/motivating, and leadership by example.

Please note that the EIM Awards are different from the Chancellor’s Outstanding Staff Award (COSA). Where COSA is open to all staff, our EIM awards honor managers and supervisors. The EIM Award is open to all levels of career, non-academic employees who have had management or supervisory responsibilities for at least one year in their current positions. Nominations must originate from staff directly supervised by the nominee, and include supporting signatures from at least one-half of these staff.

Award winners will be recognized at the EIM ceremony on May 5, 2020 at the Alumni House. Visit the BSA EIM website for more information.

The online nomination form may be accessed here.

We need your nominations by March 7, 2020. Any questions, please contact the BSA EIM Committee at bsa_eim@berkeley.edu

Thank you!
