Thank you for a successful UCPath launch

April 25, 2019

 Vice Chancellor, Administration

Dear Colleagues,

As you are aware by now, UC Berkeley joined the systemwide UCPath HR, Payroll, Benefits, and Academic Personnel solution this past March 30. This implementation was years in the making and took the hard work and collaboration of scores of people across campus to execute. While the implementation was not without challenges, we are pleased – and proud – to share that the implementation was a meaningful success.

The numbers of this implementation give some sense of the scale: more than 27,000 Berkeley faculty, staff, and student employees gained 24/7 access to their records in UCPath; nearly 1,000 transactional users in Berkeley Regional Services, central units, and campus departments began processing transactions in the system; more than five dozen downstreams systems were converted to interface with UCPath including CalNet, Berkeley Financial System, CalTime, Travel & Entertainment and many mo re.

Ensuring that Berkeley was ready to implement UCPath smoothly took the leadership, dedication and hard work of countless people across many departments including Information Services and Technology (IST), Controller’s Office, Central Human Resources, Academic Personnel Office, Berkeley Regional Services, Graduate Division, and others.

In addition to the Executive Leaders and Steering Committee for the UCPath implementation, we want to extend special thanks to the UCPath Project Management Office under the leadership of Executive Director Pratima Reddy. Pratima and her dedicated team of staff and students, helped coordinate and execute a multitude of workstreams – under an imposing deadline – to realize a successful launch.

Launching UCPath successfully was a significant milestone for Berkeley. Adapting, stabilizing, and operationalizing the system will take continued effort and focus over the coming months. To that end, we are b eginning the work of improving key business processes in the coming year so we can optimize all of our campus processes that interface with UCPath.

If you have not yet logged into UCPath, we encourage you to do so; we are confident you will be impressed with how easy it is to use. The Berkeley UCPath website is the place to find the answers to your UCPath questions, including special FAQs for employees.  We encourage everyone to continue to take advantage of the opportunities to learn more about the UCPath system in order to leverage all that it has to offer.

Sincerely,

Marc Fisher
Vice Chancellor, Administration
