SVSH Framework Revision

February 13, 2019

 Human Resources

Dear Colleagues,

The University of California is proposing revisions to the Investigation and Adjudication Frameworks for Senate and Non-Senate Faculty, and for Staff and Non-Faculty Academic Personnel. These frameworks are the foundation of Berkeley campus implementing procedures for the UC SVSH Policy. Once the systemwide frameworks are finalized, campuses will modify local implementing procedures accordingly.

As mandated by the California State Auditor (CSA), the Systemwide Title IX Office revised the frameworks to require the Chancellor, or Chancellor’s designee, to consult with their campus Title IX Officer during the disciplinary phase of the adjudication process for all faculty, other academic personnel and non-academic staff found in violation of the SVSH Policy.

Please note that this change is required by CSA, and the Systemwide Title IX Office is soliciting feedback only on the redlined change (not the document as a whole).  You may access the proposed redlined change in the UCOP Senate and Non-Senate or Staff and Non-Faculty Academic Personnel framework document applicable to your employment status. The redlined versions are:

Redline version of Investigation and Adjudication Framework for Senate and Non-Senate Faculty

Redline version of Investigation and Adjudication Framework for Staff and Non-Faculty Academic Personnel

Excerpts from June 2018 CSA Report

Non-academic staff employees covered by this policy who wish to provide comments on the proposed revisions may submit them to Evelyn Cheng, Systemwide Title IX Program Coordinator (evelyn.cheng@ucop.edu) by March 11, 2019.

Senate and non-senate faculty, and non-faculty academic personnel who wish to provide comments on the proposed revision may submit them to Sharon Inkelas, Faculty Advisor to the Chancellor on SVSH (svshadvisor@berkeley.edu) by March 4, 2019.

Sincerely,

Benjamin Hermalin, Vice Provost for the Faculty
Heather Archer, Assistant Vice Provost, Academic Personnel
Jo Mackness, Interim Assistant Vice Chancellor, Human Resources
Denise Oldham, Title IX Compliance Officer
