Staff Appreciation Week (June 10 - 14) is next week!
Jeremy Adam Smith is our Keynote speaker presenting ‘Positive Thinking for Cranks and Pessimists’ on Monday from 12-1pm in Sibley Auditorium. Are you sick of people telling you to be happy? If so, Jeremy's on your wavelength. But as an editor for UC Berkeley's Greater Good Science Center (check out their Interactive Calendar for July!), he also knows about a lot of research that can improve your life, if you're willing to give positive thinking a chance. He'll explain the science of happiness - minus the happy talk.
Like to garden? Tuesday features a brand new event - Gardening for Health & Wellness from our friends at Be Well at Work. Take a moment to enjoy the outdoors and help create a new wellness garden here on campus, featuring ergonomic tips and mindfulness practices, all while learning about the health benefits of herbs! Join in from 11:30am-1:30pm.
Summerfest is back on Wednesday from 11am-2pm. There will be a dozen Off The Grid food trucks with terrific food available, including many nutritious Eat Well Berkeley choices. Managers are encouraged to stagger their staff’s time-off to attend over the three hours as business needs allow. There’s still time to help out, get the special ‘volunteer-only’ Under Armour t-shirt and get a great lunch. Sign up now to volunteer
And please remember you MUST BRING your staff Cal ID card to Summerfest where it will be scanned to get a ticket for food and a t-shirt. This event is for people currently in a staff job classification title as well as our library colleagues.
Join our senior leadership for Friday’s Cal Walks At Work from 12:10-1pm. Participation does require signing up ahead of time to be sure you get your t-shirt and are entered into the prize drawings.
All week long, enjoy discounts from our partners at Cal Dining. They’ll be offering free drip coffees and $5 lunches - check our website for full details. The Student Store in the ASUC Student Union is also offering discounts of 20% on merchandise. Bring your staff Cal ID card for both offers.
One final note - as always, please be aware that parking in the West Circle will be extremely limited at West Crescent Lawn on Wednesday due to Summerfest. We appreciate you planning alternate parking arrangements that day.
