Launching Today (January 11, 2019) - New bCourses Accessibility Tools

January 22, 2019

 Division of Undergraduate Education

Dear Colleagues,

We are delighted to inform you that, beginning today, students and faculty will benefit from the integration of Blackboard Ally software into bCourses – one of our Digital Learning Initiative efforts to make digital content more accessible and user-friendly for all UC Berkeley students.

Benefits for Students
Without instructor assistance, students can now convert bCourses files into a variety of formats and languages to meet their needs and learning preferences.

Benefits for Instructors
Instructors can now 1) improve accessibility through Ally’s visual indicators, accessibility scores, and tips and 2) optimize digital course content compatibility with mobile devices, screen readers, and other assistive technologies using alternative formats.

Thank you for your help to improve the student experience by building a more inclusive learning environment for all Berkeley students.
