Dear Colleagues,
On Valentine’s Day, we normally think about what we can do for other people to show our love and appreciation, but this year, we also want you to think about what you can do for yourself. Over these past two pandemic years, the focus for many of us has been on other people and on just getting through it all, but taking time to focus on yourself and your own development is just as important. So after you are done sending cards, flowers, and candy - or however you may (or may not) celebrate Valentine’s Day - spend some time on you. We have excellent well-being and professional development resources to help you take those steps toward creating meaningful change today.
Taking Care of You
Tomorrow, February 15 from noon to 1 pm, join the next edition of Campus Conversations, featuring professors of psychology Christina Maslach, founding director of Berkeley’s own Greater Good Science Center Dacher Keltner, and director of Counseling and Psychological Services Peter Cornish as they discuss issues surrounding stress, burnout, and well-being. The Greater Good Science Center offers a vast array of self-paced online courses and lessons in gratitude, resilience, and well-being.
Be Well at Work offers numerous workshops to support your well-being, ranging from parenting and ergonomics to financial wellness and stress management. A full list of Spring workshops can be found on the UHS website
Communities of Practice & Staff Organizations offer a place for you to find like-minded Berkeley staff to grow your network of support on campus. As a reminder, campus policy makes clear that participation in Staff Organizations and other campus-sponsored activities is part of your regular workday, not something that you have to do “on the side.”
