Final Exams Spring 2019 - Important Information

Dear colleagues,

This message contains important logistical information and reminders related to campus services during the final exam period. In the event that you have Graduate Student Instructors proctoring final exams, please kindly forward this notice to your GSIs. Additional information will be sent to those with exams taking place in the Recreational Sports Facility (RSF) Fieldhouse.

Spring 2019 final exams will take place over a five-day period (Monday, May 13 - Friday, May 17) with four exam periods scheduled per day:

  • 8:00-11:00 a.m.
  • 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
  • 3:00-6:00 p.m.
  • 7:00-10:00 p.m.

Spring 2019 final exam locations are published at (search for a class to view its final exam date, time, and location(s) in the left-hand sidebar of the class details page). If you encounter a student with accommodation needs related to religious creed, please refer to the Religious Creed Policy. Please note that the Ramadan holiday falls during the spring 2019 final exam period (refer to the CALmessage Ramadan and Spring 2019 Final Exams for more information).

All exam venues will be checked prior to exam week to ensure that rooms are in acceptable condition for test taking. Blackboards will be cleaned and other factors that could inhibit exams will be addressed.

Staff will be assigned to ensure that buildings housing final exams are opened and locked at the appropriate times. All key-carded buildings will be locked at 9:00 p.m. unless the normal schedule exceeds this time. Please direct questions to

Additional Community Service Officers will be assigned to patrol venues where evening final exams are taking place. Night safety services will be fully staffed. To access these services, call (510) 642-9255 or visit the Night Safety Services website.

If you plan on using classroom technology during a final exam and would like to meet with a technologist, test your media, or familiarize yourself with the equipment, you may request these services using the online request form from Educational Technology Services or by emailing Please note that the Hearst Gyms and RSF provide limited internet access and no classroom technology.
