Employee Discount for Laverne Cox at Zellerbach 3/12

March 9, 2020

 Human Resources

Dear Colleagues,

Cal Performances would like to extend a special ticket offer for our staff and faculty to hear Emmy Award-winning actress and LGBTQ advocate Laverne Cox as she shares her views on race, class, and gender equality, on Thursday, March 12, 8 pm, at Zellerbach Hall. Tickets to this event are only $10 for members of our campus community.*

Best known for her groundbreaking role as Sophia Burset on the Netflix original series Orange Is The New Black, Cox is the first transgender woman of color to have a leading role on a mainstream scripted television show. Here in Berkeley, she will tell her own story - growing up in Mobile, Alabama, moving to New York City, and finding the courage to step into womanhood - to illustrate the unique challenges faced by the transgender community. Piper Kerman, author of Orange Is The New Black, will introduce her to the stage.*Discounted $10 tickets for Laverne Cox are now available to UC Berkeley faculty and staff, with a limit of two (2) tickets per order. Tickets can be ordered:

  • online through this secure link

  • by phone (510) 642-9988

  • or through the Ticket Office at Zellerbach Hall, using the promo code LAVERNE

If ordering online, our system will automatically enter the promo code when you use the link above. Then look for the “UCB Fac/Staff Discount” price type when selecting your seats. The discount is valid through noon on March 12, price levels 3–6 only and cannot be applied to previously purchased tickets.

We look forward to welcoming you to Zellerbach Hall for this inspiring presentation about inner strength and self-acceptance.

thank you,

Eugene
