 Division of Student Affairs

Sent on behalf of University Health Services

Dear campus community -

We are writing to let you know that recently we have identified three UC Berkeley Summer Session students who have Chicken Pox (Varicella). We are monitoring the condition of the students and they appear to be recovering well.

Campus and University Health Services (UHS) officials are working closely with City of Berkeley Public Health and will continue to monitor the situation closely if any other cases are identified.

Chicken Pox (Varicella) is a highly contagious viral infection.  We want to alert the campus community to be aware of the symptoms and take any needed precautions or actions. Please see our UHS Chicken Pox Health Advisory for more information.

Sincerely,

Stephen C. Sutton, Ed.D.
Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs

Guy W. Nicolette, MD, CAQSM
Assistant Vice Chancellor, University Health Services
