UC Berkeley is committed to upholding the values of diversity, inclusion, and scholarly discourse. To facilitate increasing opportunities for the campus community to engage in these values, the Chancellor and Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost are pleased to support a Campus Climate Speaker, Affirmation & Empowerment Series through the Division of Equity & Inclusion.

We are inviting proposals for between $1,000 and $10,000 from students, staff, and faculty for activities in each of the specific categories below:

1.   Campus Climate Speaker Series—bringing speakers to campus who promote scholarly discourse on the importance and value of equity, diversity, and inclusion.

2.   Structured Debates and Intergroup Dialogues—elevating the art and science of debate and dialogue to advance our campus’ knowledge, and expose the campus community to new and emerging ideas concerning diversity, inclusion and free speech; creating spaces to allow for dialogue between and among diverse groups.

3.   Empowerment and Affirmation Workshops—affirming and building the confidence of protected class groups; advancing the recruitment, retention and graduation of students; promoting staff professional development in working in challenging environments; creating inclusive and affirming classroom environments, and building community on a diverse campus.
