Call for Nominations: Asian American and Pacific Islander Standing Committee

February 11, 2019

 Division of Equity & Inclusion

Dear Students, Staff, Faculty and Alumni,

I am writing to invite your nominations for membership on the Asian American and Pacific Islander Standing Committee (AAPISC). As part of UC Berkeley’s commitment to the thriving Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities on campus, AAPISC was formed to identify the issues impacting them, and to present recommendations and strategies to campus leadership to address these needs. This is an open call for UC Berkeley students, staff, and faculty to be considered for this committee.

The Chancellor has given her support in the formation of AAPISC as a representative advisory body. The overarching responsibility of this committee is to advise the Chancellor’s Cabinet, which includes the Chancellor, Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost (EVCP) and the VCEI, about improving the campus climate for AAPI students, staff, and faculty.

The committee shall meet at least twice each semester, optimally in the following months – September and November (Fall 2019), and February and April (Spring 2020).

You may apply to be on the committee (no nomination required), or you may nominate others to serve. Nominations are due by 5:00 pm on Monday, February 22nd, and completed applications are due by 5:00 pm on Friday, March 8th. Please share this information within your networks, and note that nominees must have the approval of their supervisor before an appointment to AAPISC can be confirmed.

In partnership with AAPISC, I look forward to this opportunity to further bring about positive institutional change here at UC Berkeley.

With best regards,

Oscar Dubón
Vice Chancellor for Equity & Inclusion
