Appreciation of UC Berkeley Veterans

November 2, 2017

Dear Colleagues,

Veterans Day is Saturday, November 11 and we would like to take this opportunity to honor the sacrifice and service of the military veterans in our UC Berkeley community.

UC Berkeley is committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment for veterans in our workforce, and we value the skills and experiences they bring. Below, please find information about some upcoming veteran-related campus events of interest to the entire workforce as well as some resources for our veterans.

Cal Veterans Reception.
To recognize and thank our veterans who work on campus, Central Human Resources is hosting a reception for Cal Veterans on Thursday, November 9, 2:30-3:30 pm in Room 150 University Hall. Joining the event will be Vice Chancellor for Administration Marc Fisher, veteran and faculty member Dr. Kurt Beyer (Lester Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Haas School of Business), and representatives from Campus Shared Services Recruiting. The reception will provide an opportunity to network with other veterans, get information about job opportunities on campus, and connect with the newly re-established Cal Employee Veterans Organization.

The event is open to faculty and academic employees, staff, and students. Space is limited, so click here to RSVP by November 7. Download the flyer here.

Cal Veteran Services Center: Provides programs and services in support of student veterans, is a welcoming space for all veterans and allies and a great place to meet members of the community. This Veterans Day screening is followed by a conversation with director Michael Collins, producer Marty Syjuco, and veterans Tom Voss and Anthony Anderson, presented in partnership with PBS’s “Stories of Service” project, POV, ITVS, and KQED. The screening is co-sponsored by KQED and the Cal Veteran Services Center at UC Berkeley. Tickets and more information: https://bampfa.org/event/almost-sunrise
