Announcement: Director of Audit, Investigations, and Risk

January 10, 2019

 Chancellor's Office

Dear faculty and staff,

I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Jaime Jue as the campus’s director of audit, investigations, and risk. Jaime has served in this position on an interim basis since this past July, and began his permanent appointment on January 1, 2019.

At the helm of the campus’s internal audit department, Jaime is responsible for planning and directing a range of financial, operational, compliance, and information technology audits that provide university leaders with important objective analyses and recommendations concerning campus activities. Additionally, Jaime manages the whistleblower investigations program, oversees the risk services unit, and advises campus leadership on a variety of control, risk management, compliance, and governance issues. His position operates with significant independence and reports to me, Chancellor Christ, and University of California system Chief Compliance and Audit Officer Alex Bustamante.

A graduate of UC Berkeley with bachelor’s and doctoral degrees in economics, Jaime returned to our campus in 2010 as a member of the audit and advisory services team after more than a decade in KPMG’s advisory services practice. Since returning to Berkeley, he has supervised audits and investigations examining subjects as diverse as hiring and onboarding practices, sponsored research administration, HIPAA compliance, special collections management, and more. Jaime is a Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Fraud Examiner, and Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional. His wide breadth of experience, managerial skills, political acumen, and calm demeanor in stressful situations make him a stellar partner and a wonderful choice to lead our audit, risk, and investigations teams at this time.

I would like to extend my thanks to those who served on the search advisory committee for this position for their excellent work. Please join me in congratulating Jaime and wishing him all the best in his role.

Sincerely,

Khira Griscavage

Associate Chancellor
