Open Enrollment begins today and ends November 26 at 5 pm!

What’s new?
UC will continue to offer the same choice of quality medical plans, in addition to a few health and welfare updates featured below:  

  • Premium Cost 

    • UC’s premium changes are moderate, with some members seeing decreases.

    • Changes to contributions for single coverage across all pay bands range from a decrease of $12 per month to an increase of $16 per month. 

    • Most will see medical plan premium increases of less than $6 per month.

  • UC Plus New Supplemental Health Plans

    • Three new supplemental insurance options

    • Accident, Critical Illness and Hospital Indemnity plans

    • Pays cash benefits if you experience a covered accident, illness or hospital stay.

    • Not a substitute for medical or disability coverage, but they can complement your coverage with extra protection against the unexpected.

    • Attend the Open Enrollment Information Fair November 1 to receive detailed information.

  • Open Enrollment brochures for faculty and staff and retirees were mailed on Friday, October 25 and they provide valuable information and tools

Attend an information session:

  • Open Enrollment presentations for Emeriti and Retirees coordinated with Medicare, 150 University Hall, 2199 Addison St, Berkeley

    • Thursday, November 7, 10 am - 12 pm or  2 pm - 4 pm

    •  Wednesday, November 12, 10 am - 12 pm or 2 pm - 4 pm

  • Book a one-on-one phone consultation - A 15-minute telephone consultation with a UC Berkeley Benefits Representative will be available on November 4, November 8, November 15, and November 22. Please call 510-642-7053 and hold for the receptionist to schedule your appointment starting October 31.

  • ­Educational Videos- UC has a series of short, online educational videos at UCnet Open Enrollment to help employees and their families understand their benefits and use them wisely. Take five minutes to view the videos (located on the bottom right-hand corner).

What do I do now?

  • Explore the Open Enrollment website to learn more about the 2020 plan changes and your benefit plans. In order to participate in the Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) for the 2020 plan year, you must enroll or re-enroll. Remember, if you choose UC Health Savings Plan (HSP) as your medical plan, you cannot enroll in the Health FSA.

How to Enroll 
Sign in to UCPath online at ucpath.universityofcalifornia.edu. Look for the Open Enrollment 2020 banner page and click on Enroll Now.

How to make changes:
Sign in to UCPath online at ucpath.universityofcalifornia.edu the day after you submit your changes to confirm that your elections went through as you intended. Go to Benefits > Current Benefits and change the date to January 1, 2020. If you don’t see your changes recorded, please submit an inquiry by clicking on “Ask UCPath Center.”  

  • Newly hired with UC; How do I enroll in benefits? If you are a new hire you may see multiple benefit events in the Open Benefit Events Section. If this is the case, you must complete the New Hire event before you complete the Open Enrollment event. If you made your Open Enrollment elections first, please contact the UCPath Center.

  • Retirees must make Open Enrollment changes through UCRAYS
