Please welcome our new Student Affairs Chief of Staff

June 23, 2017

Dear Colleagues:

I am thrilled to announce that Anne K. F. Jones, EdD, will join our division as the new Assistant Vice Chancellor and Chief of Staff for the Division of Student Affairs, effective August 7, 2017.

Anne currently serves as the chief of staff to the provost at the UC Office of the President. Prior to this, she has held several leadership positions within the UC system, including most recently as Associate dean for academic programs and director of teacher education programs for UC Riverside Extension. She has also served as a multiple subject program coordinator at UC Irvine and has taught at several elementary schools throughout California.

Anne holds a California Professional Clear Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, a master's degree in teacher education from UCLA, and a doctorate in educational leadership from UCLA and UC Irvine.

As you may be aware, the Student Affairs external review included a priority recommendation to “improve collaboration between Student Affairs and Academic Affairs partners to strengthen and define support for student success.” Anne has an extensive background in teaching, educational leadership, staff management, and strategic collaboration within university systems. Her expertise in these key areas will prove an invaluable asset in helping us achieve our divisional goals and providing a more seamless experience for our students.

I also wish to thank Ellen Topp, director of communications, for serving as interim chief of staff since January. Ellen provided essential leadership during a pivotal time for our division, and I am grateful for her tireless efforts.

I am honored for Anne to join our Student Affairs community and continue the important work of this division. Please join me in welcoming her to campus in August.

Sincerely,

Stephen C. Sutton, EdD
Interim Vice Chancellor
Division of Student Affairs
