VSP & ERIT Programs 2020

 People & Culture

Dear Colleagues,

I wanted to let you know about two voluntary programs that are currently available:

The Voluntary Separation Program (VSP) offers a lump-sum payout of up to six months’ salary if you are willing to separate from your employment with the University. This program not only provides a financial benefit to employees who separate voluntarily, but also helps a unit or department towards realizing its budget reductions without having to make forced layoffs. The deadline for consideration is Sep. 10, with a separation date of Oct. 31. Please note that your supervisor and division leader must agree on your voluntary separation before it can be formally accepted. More details about the program can be found in the VSP Program webpage, including Frequently Asked Questions and the Application Form itself. For questions, please contact VSP2020@berkeley.edu

The Employee-Initiated Reduction In Time (ERIT) Program provides an opportunity for you to voluntarily reduce your current appointment percentage and corresponding pay so that the University can achieve temporary salary savings. Benefits, including vacation and sick leave accrual, remain the same while the program is in effect (from 1 - 36 months depending on your choice). Learn more at our ERIT webpage and email any questions to erit@berkeley.edu

Thank you,Eugene
