UC Berkeley Community NAGPRA Update - December 17, 2021 (virtual)

December 2, 2021

 Vice Chancellor for Research Office

Dear colleagues,

Over the past three years UC Berkeley has made substantial changes to the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) program on our campus, with the goal to repatriate all ancestors and cultural belongings as outlined in NAGPRA policy.

Please join Dr. Sabrina Agarwal (Professor of Anthropology and Chair of the campus NAGPRA Advisory Committee) and Dr. Thomas Torma (campus NAGPRA Liaison) for an update on what the campus has been doing, in compliance with both NAPGRA and the California Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (CalNAGPRA), and how we are working towards meaningful consultation with tribes.
