Resolved: Intermittent Wi-Fi Issues

January 26, 2018

To our campus community,

AirBears2 logoOur Infrastructure Services and Telecommunications team worked with the vendor yesterday to identify and implement configuration changes to the router causing the problem with Wi-Fi network stability on campus. There have been no further occurrences of the problem since these changes were implemented. We have a high level of confidence that these changes have restored stability to the campus Wi-Fi network, and continue to closely monitor the situation.

A post-incident review will be conducted to determine what we can do to avoid a similar problem in the future, improve how we managed the situation, and ensure continued stability going forward.

Thank you for your patience during this time as we worked to resolve the issue. For more information, visit the UC Berkeley Systems Status website.

Regards,

Larry Conrad, Associate Vice Chancellor for IT and Chief Information Officer
Lyle Nevels, Assistant Vice Chancellor IT and Deputy Chief Information Officer
Dave Browne, Director of Infrastructure Services and Telecommunications
