Registration: NOW Staff Career Development Conference, July 19, 2018

May 23, 2018

Dear Colleagues,

It is my pleasure to announce that Round 1 Registration for the 2018 NOW Staff Career Development Conference is open. The Conference will take place on Thursday, July 19 at the Doubletree Hilton Hotel in the Berkeley Marina. To register, visit the NOW Conference website

The NOW Conference is designed to support your career and professional development. We chose this year’s theme, “Inspiring Sustainable Opportunities,” to underscore our commitment to providing you the best opportunity to stay and grow your career here at Berkeley. This year’s conference will offer opportunities to attend professional development sessions, learn about building your personal brand in the Career Exploratorium, receive career coaching guidance, listen to inspiring keynotes, network, and share experiences and learnings via social media.

Because of the great success of past conferences, and to allow for maximum attendance, we will be holding the 2018 NOW Conference off-campus at the Doubletree Hilton Hotel at the Berkeley Marina. The hotel will offer free parking to all conference attendees. Additionally, you’ll note that when registering, we’re asking if you will need transportation from West Crescent Circle to the venue. If we receive enough interest, we will arrange for buses to shuttle attendees to the conference the morning of July 19.

Please register early as this event historically fills up very quickly. Round 1 registration will remain open on a first come, first served basis until the first 300 spots are filled. Round 2 registration opens tomorrow at noon with another 300 spots available. We hope that this rolling registration will allow for the maximum number of staff to have an opportunity to register. After round 2, we will start a waitlist for the event.

Your professional development continues to be a priority for me, as it is for campus leadership. In addition to attending the NOW Conference, I encourage you to explore the many career development workshops we offer. I also encourage you to learn about and use Lynda.com, a compendium of online learning tools for professional and career development available at no cost to members of the Berkeley community.

Thank you for your continued service to our university as we endeavor to make Berkeley the most engaging and rewarding place to work.

Warmest wishes,

Jo Mackness

Interim Assistant Vice Chancellor of Human Resources
