Regional Directors named for all service regions

December 9, 2018

 Vice Chancellor, Administration

Campus colleagues:

Berkeley is committed to continuously improving how it delivers administrative support services through better processes, tools, and communications. As part of this commitment, the University is in the midst of implementing a regional service delivery model – an organizational restructuring of Campus Shared Services from one center to six clusters, or "regions," aligned by academic discipline.

With the recent hiring of Directors for two remaining regions, I am thrilled to report that we now have Regional Directors on board for all six service regions. The recently hired Regional Directors include:

Julia Arno has been named the Regional Director of the Professional Schools region. Julia brings more than 15 years of management experience including seven years as Director and Interim Executive Director of Contracts and Grants at the Research Grants Program Office at UCOP.

Lori Tannyhill has been named the Regional Director for Region Six. Lori spent the early part of her career at Berkeley in operations management at International House and then spent 15 years with Deloitte Services. In 2014, Lori returned to Berkeley serving as Service Director for CSS.

The full slate of Regional Directors now includes:

Cynthia Weekley
ERSO Region
serving Engineering, Environmental Design, School of Information, and related ORUs and field stations.

Samantha Yee
ChaMPS Region
serving Chemistry, Mathematical and Physical Sciences Division, and related ORUs and field stations.

Adam Berke
BEST Region
serving College of Natural Resources, Division of Biological Sciences, and related ORUs, museums, and field stations.

Teal Sexton
SHARE Region
serving the Division of Social Sciences, the Division of Arts & Humanities, and related ORUs and field stations.

Julia Arno
Professional Schools Region
serving Berkeley Law, Haas School of Business, School of Optometry, Goldman School of Public Policy, School of Education, School of Journalism, School of Public Health, School of Social Welfare, and UC Berkeley Extension.

Lori Tannyhill
Region Six
serving administrative units, the Library, Intercollegiate Athletics, Student Affairs, University Development and Alumni Relations, Equity & Inclusion, the Chancellor, EVCP, and VCR offices, auxiliaries, and other units.

Regional Directors will have full budget and personnel authority for employees in their respective regions. Regions will also have a Regional Associate Dean and an Advisory Board serving as a liaison to the academic and client community and advising the Regional Director in setting priorities for service.

When fully implemented, I am confident that the regional service delivery model will improve administrative services and accountability by strengthening the personal connections between service providers and their clients. Having our full team of Regional Directors on board is an important milestone in delivering on this vision.

Sincerely,

Marc Fisher
Vice Chancellor, Administration
