Public Meeting Notice: IAB on Police Accountability and Community Safety

 Chancellor's IAB on Police Accountability and Community Safety

Dear campus community, 

The Chancellor's Independent Advisory Board on Police Accountability and Community Safety (IAB) cordially invites all Berkeley faculty, staff, and students to this upcoming public meeting: 

4 -6 PM (PST)
Wednesday, December 8, 2021

IAB co-chairs and Chancellor's staff to the IAB will be presenting the meeting content and facilitating public comment(s).

Meeting goals

This public meeting will aim to accomplish four (4) goals:

  1. Update the campus community on recent changes to policing and public safety programs, driven by the implementation of IAB recommendations and the University of California Presidential Campus Safety Plan.
  2. Communicate changes in policing and safety programs that are being explored, planned, and/or implemented over the next year.
  3. Solicit community feedback on policing, safety, and the IAB's work through public comment.
  4. Introduce multiple new mechanisms for community members to provide input and feedback to the IAB.

Meeting platform and access

  • The meeting will be held via Zoom and will be recorded. The Zoom link will be distributed in a reminder email a few days before the meeting.
  • The email will also include an agenda and meeting slides. Note: the slides will be accessible to screen readers.
  • During the meeting, Communication Access RealTime Translating (CART) captioning will be provided. If you require other accommodations for effective communication (American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting, alternative media formats, etc.) to fully participate in this event, please contact Lucy Andrews (lucyandrews@berkeley.edu) with as much notice as possible and at least seven (7) days in advance of the event. We will gladly arrange for these and other services.
