Input requested: Search for next UCPD Chief of Police

February 18, 2022

 Administration

To the Berkeley campus community:

With the announced retirement of UCPD Chief of Police Margo Bennett, UC Berkeley has appointed a search committee to search for, interview, and recommend candidates for Berkeley’s next chief of police. This search represents an opportunity to find a new leader for UCPD that is committed to Berkeley’s Principles of Community and our shared values.

The search committee first met in late January and is spending the month of February meeting with stakeholders on and off campus to understand the skills, qualifications, and experiences to prioritize in the search for a new chief. This input will inform the search committee as it finalizes the job description and position announcement when the search begins this spring.

As part of the process of soliciting input, all faculty, students, and staff are encouraged to share your ideas and perspectives in this survey. All input will be shared with the search committee confidentially. The survey will be open throughout the entire search, but any input received before Feb. 24 will be shared with the search committee before the job description is finalized.

For more information about this search, including the names of those serving on the search committee, please visit this dedicated page on the Vice Chancellor of Administration website.

Thank you for sharing your ideas and perspectives.

Sincerely,

Marc Fisher

Vice Chancellor, Administration
