To the campus community:

It is with mixed emotions that I share the news that Campus Shared Services Chief Operating Officer Peggy Huston has accepted a new assignment at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratories beginning October 1. UC Berkeley and LBNL have a long history of mutual support and I am particularly proud they have sought out Peggy’s expertise as they set out to launch a number of strategic initiatives.

Peggy has been on staff at Berkeley for 18 years, starting with IST, serving as the first Director of the Operational Excellence Program Office, and assuming her current role as COO of CSS in 2014. She has been a respected leader in helping Berkeley deliver administrative services, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement during a period of financial challenges facing higher education.

Peggy will have a split appointment with LBNL and will dedicate a portion of her time to remain on as COO of CSS until a full-time Executive Director of CSS can be found; that search will be initiated shortly with a goal of having someone in place by December.

Ann Jeffrey and I will continue to lead the transition to CSS Service Regions and I have asked Mike Cook to represent CSS on the UCPath implementation team. I have full confidence in the implementation teams of both the regional model and UCPath efforts, and this CSS leadership transition will not impede their progress. You can find more information about the CSS service regions and UCPath online.

Although we will continue to see Peggy on campus in the coming months, I hope you will join me in thanking her for her years of leadership and service to UC Berkeley, and to offer her best wishes for success in her new endeavor.

Sincerely,

Marc Fisher
Vice Chancellor, Administration
