 Communications & Public Affairs

Dear faculty and staff,

The Office of Communications and Public Affairs would like to invite you to the spring semester’s first edition of Campus Conversations, this time featuring Professor Sharon Inkelas, Berkeley’s special faculty adviser to the chancellor on sexual violence and sexual harassment.

On Wednesday, January 23, from 12 to 1 p.m. in Alumni House, Professor Inkelas will report on our ongoing efforts to ensure that Berkeley provides a working, learning, and living environment for our community that is free from sexual violence and sexual harassment. She will talk about changes in campus policy, practice, and staffing that have taken place since she took office in the summer of 2017, as well as the challenges and opportunities ahead for the university in this realm. Cookies and light refreshments will be provided at the event. Please bring a Cal ID if you’d like to attend.

There is more work to accomplish in addressing campus sexual violence and sexual harassment at Berkeley, and we are always eager to hear feedback from the community on what is working well and what we can improve upon. In addition to offering your thoughts in person at this event, we would love for you to send any comments to svshadvisor@berkeley.edu. For information about confidential resources for survivors of sexual harassment or violence, visit survivorsupport.berkeley.edu. Information about how to report an incident to authorities can be found at https://svshadvisor.berkeley.edu/reporting-svsh.

The full slate of this semester’s Campus Conversations events will feature Vice Chancellor for Equity and Inclusion Oscar Dubón on February 27, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Stephen Sutton on March 20, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Government & Community Relations Christine Treadway on April 18, and finally Chancellor Carol Christ on May 13. We hope you’ll join us at one or more of these events to get acquainted with Berkeley’s leadership team and to learn about changes taking place on campus. For more information, visit http://campusconversations.berkeley.edu/.

Sincerely,

Diana Harvey

Associate Vice Chancellor for Communications & Public Affairs
