Dear faculty and staff,

This fall, the Office of Communications and Public Affairs is once again pleased to present Campus Conversations, a monthly series of question-and-answer sessions with UC Berkeley leaders. This series has proven to be a popular forum that provides members of our community with the opportunity to hear directly from campus leadership about important priorities, plans, and developments.

The semester’s first conversation will take place on Thursday, August 23, and will feature our new Director of Athletics, Jim Knowlton. Jim joined Cal Athletics this past May after leading the athletics department at the United States Air Force Academy, and he’ll be sharing what he’s learned and experienced during his first few months on our campus, his vision for the intercollegiate athletics program, and his thoughts on the relationship between the campus’ academic and athletic enterprises. The event will be held in Alumni House from noon to 1 p.m., and a Cal ID is required to attend. Bring your thoughts and your lunch - we’ll provide cookies and refreshments!

After Jim, we’ll sit down with Vice Chancellor for Undergraduate Education Cathy Koshland and Vice Provost for Graduate Studies and Dean of the Graduate Division Fiona Doyle on September 25, Vice Chancellor for Research Randy Katz on October 15, and Vice Chancellor for University Development and Alumni Relations Julie Hooper on November 14. Chancellor Carol Christ will be the guest at the semester’s final event on December 12.

For more information about the series, visit campusconversations.berkeley.edu. We hope to have you join the conversation!

Sincerely,

Diana Harvey

Associate Vice Chancellor for Communications & Public Affairs
