Call for Nominations: The Peter E. Haas Public Service Award

December 1, 2021

 Chancellor's Office

Dear campus community,
I am pleased to announce that nominations are now open for the 2022 Peter E. Haas Public Service Award. Given each year, the award recognizes a Berkeley alum who exemplifies our institution's commitment to the public good and whose volunteerism has had a profound impact in one of four areas: community and social service, health care, education, or the environment. The deadline for nominations is February 15, 2022.
Please note that we will be pooling all nominations that were submitted as far back as last year January 1, 2020 for consideration in this year's awards. If you submitted a nomination during this time and would like to update any information, please send the updates to events1@berkeley.edu.
Established in honor of the late Peter E. Haas '40, a generous campus benefactor and longtime volunteer, the award comes with a $30,000 cash prize as well as $30,000 to be donated to a charity of the winner's choice. The honoree is also asked to speak at the May commencement ceremony to be held on May 14, 2022.
Visit the Berkeley Awards site for information on how to submit a nomination, and please contact Lila Ramirez at lramirez@berkeley.edu or (510) 812.0200, if you have any additional questions. Thank you for considering those in your network for this honor, and thanks to the many Berkeley alumni around the world whose volunteer work contributes to the betterment of society.
Fiat Lux and Go Bears!

Sincerely,
Carol T. Christ
Chancellor
