Dear Campus Community, I am writing today to invite nominations for individual staff members and/or teams of staff for the 2022 Chancellor's Outstanding Staff Awards. The Chancellor's Outstanding Staff Award (COSA) is one of the highest honors a staff member can receive at Berkeley. I am delighted to resume this celebration of our remarkable and resilient staff. I also want to take a moment to express my deep appreciation for all members of our staff community, who have gone above and beyond to support the university throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. The COSA awards recognize staff who have demonstrated exceptional initiative in at least two of the following areas:
The Chancellor's Outstanding Staff Awards have been a Berkeley tradition since 1988, acknowledging the great distinction and excellence achieved by Berkeley staff through their daily contributions to the campus and beyond. Any member of the campus community, including staff, faculty, and students, may submit nominations for either individual or team awards. You may nominate any current Berkeley staff member who has been employed at the university for at least one year for this honor; individuals with academic or executive tier titles are not eligible. Past nominees and recipients have come from all campus divisions and represent all levels and classifications. Please distribute and post this call for nominations widely throughout your department. I encourage managers and supervisors to discuss this important opportunity to recognize the outstanding efforts of staff in upcoming departmental meetings. You may review the guidelines, frequently asked questions and the nomination forms on the COSA website. If you would like more information about the awards, please email cosa@lists.berkeley.edu. To nominate an individual or team, please complete the online nomination form linked from the COSA website. Your nomination must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday December 21, 2021. The Chancellor's Staff Advisory Committee (CSAC) administers this award program on my behalf and will join me and senior administrators in honoring the 2022 recipients at a reception in April 2022.
