BSA Mentorship Program 2020/21

April 28, 2020

 People & Culture

Dear Colleagues,

The Berkeley Staff Assembly's (BSA) Career Development Committee is excited to introduce the 2020-2021 cycle of the BSA Mentorship Program! The Committee is now welcoming mentee applications and mentor nominations for the program which pairs staff seeking to develop themselves professionally with more experienced colleagues on campus.

What will I get out of it?
The Mentorship Program offers mentees a space to challenge themselves as they learn more about campus policies and dynamics, and how to become more skilled professionals. Mentees are exposed to many resources and programs available to staff on campus, and mentors enjoy an opportunity to polish their leadership, equity, and inclusion skills, which are crucial to their daily decision-making.

Since the program began in 2005, over 500 mentor/mentee pairs have enjoyed the benefits of the connections facilitated through this program!

Don't believe us? Hear what your colleagues are saying…
"My mentor made me feel like I can build a very meaningful and long career at UC Berkeley. I now know about so many roles and departments that I'd be interested in working for in the future and feel like Berkeley is full of great possibilities." - Claire Blide (Mentee), Associate Registrar, School of Law.

"Being a mentor has been a great professional development opportunity for me. I'm happy to be at a point in my career where I can share my story with others about my triumphs, failures, and resilience." - Patrick G. Allen (Mentor), Director of Student Services, Department of Economics.

Next Steps
Mentoring relationships will begin September 1, 2020 and run through May 31, 2021.
