2018 Martin Meyerson Faculty Research Lectures

February 25, 2018

Dear campus community,

The 2018 Martin Meyerson Faculty Research Lectures, a 105 year old campus tradition celebrating excellence in research at UC Berkeley, will take place Wednesday, April 4 and Monday, April 23.  The faculty honorees this year are:

Victoria Kahn

Professor of Comparative Literature and Katharine Bixby Hotchkis Professor of English

The Trouble with Literature
Wednesday, April 4

William Dietrich

Professor of Earth and Planetary Science

Landscapes and What They Tell Us: The Shock of the Familiar
Monday, April 23

Both events are free and open to the public and take place from 4 to 5pm in the Chevron Auditorium at International House, 2299 Piedmont Avenue

Every year since 1912, the Academic Senate has selected faculty members who are exceptionally distinguished for their scholarly research to serve as the Faculty Research Lecturers.  These public events provide a unique opportunity for the campus community to hear from the very people who are transforming knowledge at Berkeley and in our world.  Past participants include many of Berkeley’s Nobel Prize winners and campus notables, including Willis Linn Jepson, Ernest Lawrence, George Pimentel, and Czeslaw Milosz, to name a few.

I hope that you will join us.

Sincerely,

Carol T. Christ
Chancellor
