2017 UC Women's Initiative for Professional Development

October 24, 2016

Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to announce an open call for nominations for the 2017 UC Women’s Initiative for Professional Development. The Initiative is a UC Systemwide Talent Management program developed at the request of the UC Systemwide Advisory Committee on the Status of Women (SACSW), and delivered by CORO, a non-profit leadership evelopment organization.

The purpose of the program is to provide leadership development for mid-career women, both faculty and staff, who demonstrate the potential to advance their careers at UC. The program began as a small pilot in 2016, and is now being expanded.

The curriculum includes participation in a vibrant, professional network of women across the UC system, access to top UC leaders to learn about their leadership approaches and journeys, and strengthening of skills and confidence through hands-on practice with a range of tools and skills.

Nomination Process

Participation is limited to four women from Berkeley, who will join a total Northern UC cohort of 32 participants.

In order to participate in the program, participants must commit to attending all program sessions (four day-and-a-half long sessions between February and May 2017), and have approval from their supervisor/department chair to participate. The cost is $2,500 per participant (plus travel expenses), which will be paid for by the University.

Individuals are encouraged to self-nominate for consideration, or to nominate others. The following two items must be submitted by 5:00 pmTuesday, November 1, 2016

1.     Online Nomination Form

2.     Supplemental Questionnaire

Additional information about the program, curriculum, dates, and review committee can be found on the homepage of the Office for Faculty Equity & Welfare website. We look forward to receiving your nominations for this valuable opportunity.
